Horseback riding in Patagonia – I had a phenomenal time with our guide, Enrique and my horse, Alma Blanca! I have a bit of experience with riding but all very gentle trail rides, and Enrique… read more was fantastic at reading my comfort level and giving me space to grow in my riding experience while making sure I felt safe. Alma Blanca was also very sweet, it felt like she had more of her own personality and enjoyed the ride with me (vs some other horses I have met who seemed to just follow the horse in front of them). I was also impressed with the thoroughness of explanations and quality of the gear provided – Charlotte and Enrique clearly adore their horses as individual animals and were generous with sharing their knowledge and growing my experience, as well as providing a safe environment for it all. The incredible Patagonian landscape was just icing on top!

Truly an experience of a lifetime! – We contacted Galope Austral just the day before our tour to see if they can take our family for a last-minute horseback ride. They accommodated right away, it took less… read more than 10 minutes of back-and-forth texts to get a tour for the following afternoon. Super simple.
I was nervous because we had a 9-year old child with us who has not been on a horse on his own. So a 3-hour hike seemed like a lot. But Charlotte and Enrique made everything so easy and comfortable. Charlotte guided his horse the entire time, and even let him trot when he was comfortable. Enrique was super fun to talk to for the parents, explaining about the landscape, estancia life, etc.
It is very obvious how much they love horses – their horses are well groomed and incredibly well trained. A 3-hour hike was literally the highlight of our experience in Patagonia. They took us through some incredibly beautiful landscapes – literally an experience of a lifetime.
And I wouldn’t hesitate to book with kids – their horses are just so well trained and they can guide the children’s horses, so it is not a concern at all.
